Shark Weekend 2022

EVEN KEEL TATTOO’S 6TH ANNUAL SHARK WEEKEND

The artists at Even Keel Tattoo were once again working hard for sharks, tattooing two solid days in a row, all to support shark conservation. The timing of this event coincides every year with Discovery Channel’s Shark Week. This event is a great example of how people can take action and apply their talents to be part of the shark conservation movement. Many prizes and gifts were given by supportive companies to make for an awesome raffle. A very special thanks to Half Face Blades for the amazing, one-of-a-kind knife that was auctioned off to benefit Shark Allies.

Our focus this year was raising awareness of what squalene is and how to avoid buying shark-derived squalene. We featured some of our favorite companies that have made a conscious decision to produce only products made with plant-derived squalene. All customers were sent home with a gift bag that gave them information and samples of products that are great for people while protecting the reefs and sharks. This year we were also happy to debut many of the sustainable sharky merchandise we have been developing for Shark Cafe, our dedicated site for all things fun and artistic with an ocean and shark theme.

Thank you to everyone that stopped by to chat, get a tattoo, or simply show their support. Every year people hold off and wait to get a tattoo so they can participate in this event. And many of them have been joining us from year one. It is truly wonderful to see the community of friends and artists in San Diego. We look forward to seeing everyone next year!
