'More Like Jimmy' - Pacific Daily News
The ‘More Like Jimmy' Scholarship is now open for 2020 applicants! Thank you Pacific Daily News for the write up on this very important program.
“Jimmy had a lot of passions, but at the top of his list was sharks,” said Linda Tatreau, the mother of Jimmy Hall and former marine biology teacher at George Washington High School.
“There were underlying assumptions about sharks when the movie ‘Jaws’ came out, and sharks occasionally kill people,” Tatreau said. “When you swim, you can’t see underwater, so there’s the fear of the unknown.”
“People who love sharks don’t see sharks that way and know they are important. They acknowledge their value in the environment, and if you remove the top of the food chain, then you influence everything all the way down,” Tatreau said.
