Shara Teter
SHARK ALLIES FLORIDA VOLUNTEER AND Marine Biologist
Hailing from Chocolate Town USA (Hershey, Pennsylvania), Shara is as sweet as she is salty! As a kid, Shara was immediately drawn to nature and the water and she never looked back. After graduating with a degree in environmental biology, she went on to earn her master's degree in marine biology. She worked as research assistant at the Guy Harvey Research Institute in Florida, where her research was focused on the movements and migrations of several shark species and using this scientific data to create marine protected areas. She has traveled to places all over the world on a mission to conserve sharks through science. Shara joined our Shark Allies team when our NoFinFL campaign landed in her backyard, and she served as an integral part in our campaign to stop the shark fin trade in Florida. Shara continues to follow her passions as the Co-Director of Fin Alliance and the Founder of her own coaching and consulting business to grow and empower visionary leaders. She makes a mean guacamole, enjoys interpretive dancing and singing along with Broadway musicals, loves helping people complete triathlons, and is committed to leaving a legacy of love and helping big dreams come true.
