Ahead of plenary debate in Strasbourg, it is important for the MEPs to know that the world is watching! It is time for the EU to step up as blue leaders and support a #FinBanNow in Europe. Click on the link above to send a pre-written email to MEPs of the Fisheries and Environment Committees. Some MEPs have not yet taken a stand on the trade responsible for more than 100 million sharks every year - Europe alone accounts for 45% of fins entered into large consumer markets. No matter if you are in the EU or not, this is your opportunity to let the European Commission know it's time to end the shark fin trade and to support the European Citizens Initiative “Stop Finning - Stop the Trade.”

Here are some of Commissioner Sinkevicius’ LinkedIn, Instagram and Twitter posts to comment on. Look out for our channel’s comments on posts from all the commissioners and MEPs, you can follow suit!
Please be polite to all Commissioners: They are deciding the fate of this campaign and we want our community to be helpful and supportive. We will let you know when officials need to be addressed in a more demanding way.
The key message: “Sharks are highly threatened by the shark fin trade. Please take action by supporting the requests of 1.1 million European citizens that gave their vote for a #FinBanNow in the EU, and protect biodiversity.”
European CITIZENS: CONTACT YOUR REPRESENTATIVES
You can write letters to your country’s representatives in the Parliament (MEPs Members of Parliament), expressing your support for the European Shark Fin Trade campaign. The best thing we can all do is to move in unison and stick to the points that matter. Read more about the key points here. Please treat the MEPs with respect. The ECI and our team have been welcomed in Brussels and we are getting a lot of support. Let’s keep it that way! More details and sample text coming soon.
